THE ROLE:
We are seeking a diligent and proactive individual to join our team as a Stabling & Mobile Security Officer. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our railway infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patrol and Monitor: Conduct regular security patrols along the nominated areas of stations and depots to detect and deter any unauthorised access, vandalism, or suspicious activity.
- Stable trains as they come into the depot.
- Drive a company vehicle to get to the relevant patrol locations.
- Enforce Safety Regulations: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to railway property.
- Emergency Response: Act promptly in response to emergencies such as trespassing incidents, damage to station and depot property and coordinate with relevant authorities as necessary.
- Report and Document: Maintain accurate records of all security incidents, including detailed reports of any breaches, disturbances, or irregularities observed during patrols.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other security personnel, railway staff, and external stakeholders to maintain a cohesive approach to security and safety measures.
- Customer Service: Provide assistance and guidance to staff and customers regarding safety protocols, access procedures, and emergency evacuation routes.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all security equipment and vehicle used for your shift is in proper working condition, reporting any malfunctions or deficiencies for timely repairs.
- Training and Development: Stay updated on relevant safety regulations, procedures, and best practices through ongoing training sessions and professional development opportunities.
SKILLS:
- Security Experience: Previous experience in a security-related role, preferably within a railway or transportation setting, is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform patrol duties and respond to emergencies in a physically demanding environment, including walking long distances.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, and members of the public.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess security risks and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision, to achieve common security objectives.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends as required by the operational needs of the business.
LICENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid SIA DS licence
- Full Driving licence
INTERVIEW REQUIREMENTS:
- Eligibility documents needed at interview: Passport or Full Birth Certificate; Utility Bill showing current address and dated within 3 months; Proof of National Insurance (Payslips cannot be used) such as NI card, P45, P60, benefits or HMRC letter.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- You must be able to provide a checkable 5-year employment and address history for vetting purposes (this can include full-time education or periods when claiming benefits).
