This week we’re highlighting the wonderful work that security staff do here to embody all the values that make up Amulet. Today, we’re showcasing account manager Saul Ashworth.

Journey into security

Saul was always passionate about helping others and making a difference. When he came across the security industry, he saw it as a way to support others directly. By gaining the public’s trust, he could take on the responsibility of creating change for the better.

During his initial years in the security sector, Saul occupied several roles which gave him the skills that he would need as a senior member of staff. These included working football stadiums and large-scale events, mobile patrols, and even the nighttime economy. He also looked after several key clients in the industry. These experiences further developed his professionalism and communication, as he found the best results for his clients and for the organisation.

It was in 2017 where he first came across the Travel Safe Officer (TSO) role. There he spent several years honing his craft and gaining new industry skills, whilst forging strong lasting relationships which are still present today. He effectively led several teams on a contract which is widely considered prominent in security, which led him to achieving an account manager position at Amulet in 2022.

A typical day

As an account manager on the Northern Trains contract, Saul oversees all his contract’s operation. He manages over 75 security professionals across the TSO and counterterrorism (CT) cohort, spread over four regions and five different teams. The role requires a huge amount of responsibility to ensure the service remains at the highest possible standard.

It’s a role that brings its challenges, because of the demanding nature and ever-changing environment of the transport sector. Despite this, it’s brought some fantastic results both personally for Saul and professionally for both Amulet and Northern Trains. It brings Saul a great deal of pride that he can work alongside our clients to help shape the future of safety and security on the railway network.

What Saul enjoys most

Leadership is important to Saul, and his proudest achievement in his role so far is seeing security professionals develop and achieve their ambitions. There’s nothing more satisfying to him than being able to help shape the career of others through training, development, and mentoring. By working closely with his team, Saul allows them the opportunity to showcase themselves. Because of his work, Saul’s team now influences the future of the industry as much as he has.

Saul’s success comes from the experience that Amulet provided over the years. Not only with essential training, but with professional development opportunities that allowed him to develop his skill set. He is truly an asset to the ongoing trajectory of the security service.
