Rail / light rail
Amulet is a key security partner for the UK rail and light rail industry, working with a significant number of Train Operating Companies (TOC), including:
Our teams work in stations, depots and on trains to support our clients and protect the public.

According to the needs of our train operating company clients, our safeguarding officers are Railway Safety Accreditation Scheme (RSAS) trained. The RSAS scheme is a set of standards and certification processes designed to ensure that security and service providers working within or around the railway industry adhere to the highest levels of safety, compliance, and operational competence. Amulet are one of very few suppliers that are accredited to deliver RSAS accredited training and deploy RSAS accredited officers to work on the railway, the scheme is fully supported and accredited by the British Transport Police.
To ensure that we collaborate, share best practices, and innovate, we chair our rail group, which serves as a valuable platform for our people and clients as well as industry professionals and experts to work together and learn from each other.
We are also involved in a number of external rail industry bodies and associations such as Rail Safe Friendly and The Rail Forum to help educate and inform on railway security issues.
Bus
Our security officers operate in bus terminals, bus routes and on bus journeys around the UK. Amulet is the primary security partner for Transport for Greater Manchester, supporting the Bee Line bus network. For the Bee Network Amulet deploy a number of TSEOs (TravelSafe Support and Enforcement Officers), they are specifically trained to provide a safe, reassuring, and authoritative presence on the Bee Network. Their efforts involve safeguarding, as well as targeting young individuals involved in criminal damage and anti-social behaviour, while also combating gender-based violence to make customers and staff feel safer on bus networks. This is the only scheme to be funded by police and is part of Manchester Council’s public transport relaunch.

TSEOs also ensure that buses are safe from anti-social behaviour, checking for obvious signs of misbehaviour and vandalism, such as graffiti. Keen observation is essential for TSEOs to uncover subtle signs of anti-social behaviour, such as grooming or trafficking. TSEOs are also trained to handle bus revenue protection duties, with savings reinvested into the network.
The role requires extensive empathy skills, with the ability to deliver mental health first aid and signpost to other services as required. Emotional resilience is necessary for all TSEOs due to the amount of mental labour needed for the role. Between December 2023 and February 2024, TSEOs dealt with 105 welfare or safeguarding-related incidents on buses, including instances linked to homelessness. TSOs on one of our rail contracts helped 279 vulnerable individuals, responded to 153 medical emergencies, and stopped 33 suicide attempts on trains, demonstrating the capabilities of the role.
We work closely with Lancashire County Council to provide security services at its bus terminals. We also work with Thurrock Council covering the terminals in Thurrock, Chelmsford and Basildon.
The key focus for the deployment of security on the bus network is to see a reduction in anti-social behaviour through proactive situational awareness and being visible presence. This visible presence makes customers feel safer and has led to a reduction in violence against women and girls.
